Problem with 1999 GT Oil in Spark Plug "Chamber/well"
Hey guys. New to the forum, prior mustang owner myself. I moved on to a 00 Lightning for quite a while. Back on to mustangs. Anyway, I have a problem with my 1999 Gt. Here are the specs on the car and the problem:
+ 130000 Miles
+ obviously the 4.6 (convertible)
+ completely stock
+ Previous owner changed clutch/routine maintenance (I know the previous owner well)
+ Problem: I pulled the spark plugs and changed them out this weekend, cylinders 1-3, 6, & 8 all have (had now) oil in the Spark Plug "Chamber/well". I checked the oil in the pan and there is no coolant. I also checked the radiator and there is no oil in there. As such, I believe the valve cover gaskets are shot. The oil was simply in the "chamber", the internal side of the plug did not have any oil and the plugs looked great. Am I correct in my assumption that my valve covers need new gaskets? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
+Side Note: I am capable of fixing this myself, I simply wanted to get opinions from other mustang owners (as I have been out of the "game" for 5 years now).
Thanks again.

Yup valve covers. When you take them out check if they are torn. If not then reuse them just make sure they are seated in the cover correctly. Also make sure you scrape the old rtv (where timing cover meets the block) off and reapply. Dont skip that step or you will have to do it over again.

I would never reuse a gasket expecialy if it was already was leaking once and they don't cost very much. hint dont over tighten the valve cover or you will be leaking allover again.
