RE: gas!!
What makes you thinks it's running rich?If you have over 50k miles on your car, and do mostly short trip sort of driving, then I'd suspect the front O2 sensors. When they age their output drops which falsely tells thePCM the mix is lean; the PCM compensates by making the mix richer...As for "miles per tank", since "tank" is not standard unit of measure unless you run it dry I can't help you out--however I get 21.5 to 22.5 mpg in my standard weekly drive which is 5 to 10 miles "in town", 25 to 30 mph, 50 to 60 miles "rural" at 55 to 60 mph, and 120 miles or so on I-95 at 65 to 80 mph.

RE: gas!!
well the reason i said rich because it smells more like a gas can instead of exhaust....as for the light... my light was on but it was only a front o2 sensor wire had pulled loose...i disconnected the battery and it went away until about 4 days later but i think it did it again im probably going to try and replace the o2s first but any thing else??

RE: gas!!
All O/R pipes are going to smell like gas. The purpose of a cat is to burn off the gas which has not been burnt during the combustion process. As for miles per tank with me. I get around 215 -220 and I fill up when i have 1/4 left which is about 10 gallons or so. So 21.5 - 22 MPG and I do about 70% city and 30% highway.

RE: gas!!
that sucks about the o/r pipe thing but owell its a good trade off ha ya i was on it pretty hard the first week i had it and i got 220 but i have a 98 explorer lifted with 33" tires and a v6 with a 16 gal tank and i barely get 210 lol

RE: gas!!
I just took a long highway drive and I usually get about 26 MPGhighway driving normally. I ran into a lot of traffic in Delaware and I still ended up with 24.5 MPG going 65-75 MPH for the most part. The mid pipe is not helping with gas mileage, that's for sure. Running in open loop all day is robbing you of a few MPG.
