Default Vortech reliable

how reliable is a 99 GT with a vortech supercharger. The car has 71k miles on, full bolt ons and a vortech s/c. Its got all stock interanals. I know the mustangs are very reliable cars, but how much does it take away from a car to be s/c'ed.

Are u buying this car? If so, i'd be very careful. If it's blown and has stock internals chances are there is a reason the person is selling it. 1st rule of thumb, is know that the person who had the car before you didn't put the vortech on it just to drive to church and back. Make sure you go thru the car with a fine tooth comb. The last thing you want to do is buy a car and have the MF'r break down on you the next week.

look at is as if your buying any car!

-Listen to how it starts up
-Listen to it run
-Drive it! dont be afraid to get on it a little!!!
-get on your hands and knees (or back) and look under the car, and what not
-pop the hood listen for any noises, sqeeks, etc..

+1 only be EXTRA careful when you are looking because the supercharger has been putting 2x as much stress on everything than a non supercharged car.

How many miles has the SC been on the car for?

The main things you need to pay attention too is the motor, rear end, and the transmission because these are going to be the things eating all that extra stress.

I have never been one to believe that just because a car is modified it is going to have problems.

Mine has around that milage, and has been FI for about 2 years now, with zero problems. I have to say that I take alot better care of my car, simply because of the money invested, than your average stock GT owner...

Drive it, and look at it. if its beat up, stuff dirty or missing inside, outside beat up etc more than likely its junk. If the interior is clean and nice, the exterior the same, and it runs and drives fine etc there is more than likely nothing wrong.
