Hi Everyone,
This is my first Mustang GT and I've only owned it for 36 hours, I noticed when I was driving it home from the dealership that when in traffic and going slow the trans banged into second. I did not notice this during the test drive as I wasn't in traffic and was putting the car through its paces somewhat. This was a concern but after getting it home and driving it today I got on it for the first time and the car chirped the wheels when shifting into second while under heavy accerleration. So my question is, do all GT's shift like this or is it possible that the previous owner either used a tuner to changed the shift points or has had a shift kit installed? I would be very surprised about the tuner orkit as the car has no other mods at all. I assume everyone can tell that this is an automatic trans but I figured I would mention it just in case. If you are going slow and it banged into gear there could be a problem....

But as far as under heavy acceleration it should easily chirp 2nd and sometimes 3rd in a stock automatic.

sorry I had an 84 transam with a 700 R and a shift kit. the shift kit hits in all gears even at 1/2 throttle hopes that helps.

well...with 2 mustangs ive drove. mine and my moms. stock i could get mine to chirp 2nd and with my moms i couldnt. same cars but differnent colors. i guess some canand some cant.

mine had no problem breaking the tires loose when shifting to second when it was bone stock. get yourself smoe 4:10 gears and a tranny cooler and you will really love your auto. then you could add a j mod valve body and stall converter the list goes on.
