T-56 Clutch Problem

T-56 Clutch Problem
I was going to attemt to stomp an Evo on the freeway when I missed a shift to fourth. I finally mashed it in and got up next to him. We were about to go, but when I went to downshift to 3rd the clutch wouldn't disengage. Effort was unusually light and there is no slippage.
I managed to get the car home my matching my revs to get into gear. At home I checked the cable, and it was fine. I took the clutch cable dust cover off and looked inside the tranny. I could move the clutch lever back and forth by hand but it didnt seem to do anything when it got to the pressure plate. Any ideas as to what may have broken? This is a T56 with a King Cobra clutch.
Thanks in advance.

RE: T-56 Clutch Problem
well t56's do have a problem from the factory with 3rd gear syncros. However you seem to be having trouble all over now? Your cable could be stretched or your fork could be bent, but that shouldn't make you slip. Slipping has to do with the pressure plate and friction disc only! I would be willing to guess your pressure plate is fried. Th fingers have no sprinf left to them which is allowing the clutch to slip since ther is no pressure on it. get a new clutch, but def. tighten up the cable to rule out cheaper possibiliteies first!

RE: T-56 Clutch Problem
I'm sorry,
I had a typo. I meant to saythat there was NO clutch slippage.
I checked the linkage and messed with the firewall adjuster, all that seems to be working well. I'm just guessing at maybe the clutch lever?
