Default BBK Shorty headers- connection and rust question.

Q1: I read that you can expect 6-10 rwhp gains by replacing the stock mainfolds with shorty headers. I was wondering if I can just bolt on the BBK shortys with my existing H-pipe, or if I have to buy a BBK midpipe for it to connect it without tons of crazy welding to get it to connect to the stock pipes.Im only considering shorties because SLP LT headers w/catted shorty midpipe costs around $1200, and it would relocate the cats which is illegal in NY. The BBK shortys are like $300.

Q2: On americanmuscle.com they arent advertised as being "coated"... Does that mean that they will get holes of rust through the walls within a few years? Ihave todrive it a couple times in the winter, but thats about it. Normally dont take it out in the rain, and drive around 5k miles each year. If the bbk shortys on americanmuscle arent a good choice for durability reasons, which ones are regarded as being a superior choice?

To all those "get LT headers people"...Im aware of the boost you get from LTs, but due to the legality and cost, Id rather not get them.

setup: 04 gt vert, 70mm bbk tb, accufab plenum, bbk udps, predator, slp lm1

Thanks!

Default RE: BBK Shorty headers- connection and rust question.

I think I can help you, I got mine through jegs like 3-4 months ago (2500 miles) and your rwhp gains are about right, 10 rwhp. No problem with using your stock h pipe, I am. They are still a pain to install not as bad as LTs but still suck for the gain you get. I have not had any probs with mine rusting yet..... I drive mine in any weather though its my DD.
Now as far as quality well not the top of the line, bbk isn't bad but they are more of a budget performance company, so keep that in mind
