Default 4.30s in a 2V 5 speed?

I read an article that said you can go with 4.30s in the 4.6 5 speeds and 1st gear will only be used for drag racing... Fact or fiction?

you would need pretty much full suspension, built rear, and slicks to get the slightest traction out of 1st and even then it would last like 15 mph if that

Yeah you have the option to skip first but still usable. So fiction, depends on who is driving. Love my 4.10's sometimes wish I went with the 4.30's.

To give ya an ideal here's a break down. copied and pasted from a gear calculator
assuming a t45 with 315/35/17

That chart looks helpful, but what does it mean? I do have the t45 and 17s on the back but Im not sure what the numbers mean for 1st through 5th gear.

for example, "2500 13 22 33 44 66"
at 2500 rpm you will be going 13 mph in first, 22 mph in 2nd, 33mph in 3rd.......

The car hasFox body drag shocks and lowered springs so far and I plan on upgrading the entire suspension and stiffening the chassis.

that was with 4.30's. I just used this gear calculator and entered the ratio's for the t45 and 315/35/17 tires. The 3650 in the 2001.5+'s it will be a little bit different.

So when you say you sometimes wish 4.30s were installed on your car, which gears would be better for a 215 hp engine?
