Hey guys im in the middle of a project right now. i am going to paint my stock rims black. i have an 02 and i am sanding the original rims right now. does anyone know about what grit i should be using. the sand paper i have now does not seem to be working that effectivly.

You dont have to sand them down to the metal, as long as you smooth things out and dont leave any weak chipping paint or anything that would fall off after painting it should be ok.
Personally I would start with a 100 grit, and then step it up to a 150 grit. That should be smooth enough where the paint will lay on smooth and will ahve enough surface to grasp on to.
I have also heard of people just using a scoth brite wheel that attaches to a drill.
