Default Plenum Spacer?

I have a question and hopefully someone will have an answer. My buddy just got his plenum and tb from some guy on craigslist and it came with a spacer for under the plenum. What exactly does that do, and should he even put it on? I'm asking because if there is a good use for one, I may look into getting one also.

If it came with one he might as well use it. As for you getting one yourself... that's debatable.

But what exactly is it good for? I don't want to waste my money on something if it has no particular use.

The OEM upper plenum is shorter than it could be, which makes the internal dimensions of the elbow less than optimal. Most all aftermarket plenums are 5/8" to 3/4" taller than the OEM unit andtheir elbows are much improved aerodynamically because of this.Upper plenum spacers are a sort of kludgy fix for the OEM plenum's faults that really don't do much except make the owner feel better. With your Accufab plenum there's no way the spacer will add anything, accufab would have made the plenum taller if doing so would have made it better.

mmmmm I see your guys point...but have you considered most companies Trick Flow for giggles sales pitch is that there is no modifications needed to the hood....they had to consider that in making the upper plentum for clearance issues...so if they would have made it taller then it might not have cleared the hood without an aftermartket hood and not everyone can afford both.....just my two cents

I use one on my stang and there's a very minor and little difference. Its very questionable by alot of people if its even worth the money.
