Default porting stock heads

so... most all aftermarket heads seem to be stock castings, just p/p'ed... i found some pi heads for 200 bucks(one has damage from thrown rod, not concerned, nothing some welding and resurfacing cant fix)... is it worth my time to grab these and port them, obviously do a valve job, resurface, etc etc... throw some good springs on them and maybe some stage2 cams... the only cost to me would be the 200 for the heads, and then the price for the cams/springs, all the labor wouldnt effect me, as i work at a machine shop, and would take care of it there

so worth it or negative?

1/3 of the cost of new heads plus you get cams. I think it would be worth it if you can fix the damaged head yourself.

you can buy them in good undamaged shape for less than 400 generally and pretty regularly for less than 300

as far as aftermarket, they're is no real aftermarket 2v modular cylinder head, the closest thing was the SVO heads but they were also made by ford, all the 1000-3000 heads are ported and/or CNC'd stock heads

i understand that and all, which is why im lookin at getting these

and as for getting them for a little more but no damage... i could careless... i work at a machine shop, itll just be time, no money involved, maybe 2 valves....

im more wondering what real gains id be looking at by porting these(boss is good w. this ****, hell be doin it), and throwing say vt stage2's in it or something

I would also like to know how much porting your stock heads would get you. I would do cams later on but just curious...

Sorry kinda off topic.. Say i wanted to get my stock heads ported. How long does a job like that take and cost?
