Not true... Back in the day I used to be able to call this place out west that would mix and fill any custom auto paint you want and put it into hobby sized spray cans.

They had hundreds of colors to pick from, they would even tint the factory colors to make "in scale color" correct paint for model building so that the color would be correct for a car in model size.

I have no idea if that place is still around or what it was called now.

Never heard of it before. How long ago was this and what was the price tag on it?

Yes you can still get it in cans but I dont know where off hand Id have to search. I went to O'reilys auto parts for my paint to fix my car and it matched perfect.

For me it was around 17-18 years ago that I bought the paint. I used to build Nascar models by the dozens well before you could get the store bought Nascar colors and this place was the only place you could get these custom colors in the hobby sized paint cans short of getting real car paint from the auto store and shooting it through a air brush.

We also used to get the "grabber" Mustang colors so we could build the Grabber colored Mach's and Boss cars.

We discovered them at a display booth at a big model show in Parsippeny NJ around 20 years ago and my buddy bought them for a couple years before I tried them.

It was around $2-3 more then a regualr paint can back then because it was a custom paint.
