I just got a Borla CB exhaust put on my 04 gt today...and to my surprise, it is quieter then the stock exhaust (although it is a deeper sound)!!! everything else on the car is stock except the exhaust...any suggestions? I was thinking of a new H-pipe and a few high flow cats, or straight piping the two rear cats. What would give me that loud muscle car sound?

They make 2.

And the cylinder shaped mufflers should be much louder than the stock mufflers.

If they are indeed the regular chambered Borlas however, I would'nt be surprised at all that the new pipes are quieter at idle, but still, even they should be louder at WOT or acceleration.

x-pipe it and take the cats off and if you really wanna get loud cut all the pipe after the mufflers off (also known as dumping the exaust) and put turn downs on it

You obviously did not get the Borla 'stingers'. The stingers are the loud ones and the popular ones.

You got the regular borla catback which will be quiet no matter what you do...

Yea, you didn't get the borla stingers then, causeI got em and the rest of my exhaust is stock and its preaty dam loud, especially at WOT... It rummbles at idle.

Where are you located? I am looking to buy the stingers but I am afraid they might me too loud for me. As long as the regulars give off similar performance with a louder, deeper tone than stock then I don't mind.

When i got weld in magnaflows it was the same way. when i took the cats off and got an x-pipe it sounded pretty damn good. my advice-drop the cats like a bad habit.
