The stock t-stat is a 195°F unit, there's no reason to install a lower temp unit; in fact without a tune things can get messed up even with a 180° unit (which is what I'm running here in Florida).170° is way too low, the engine will run quite rich and your fuel economy will take a dump. With the 180° unit I've got I had to pull quite a bit of fuel from the tune to get the AFRs where they are supposed to be.

No stick with stock heat range plugs unless you are S/C or nitrous. 180* is minimum you want to go in any fuel injected car (using a MAF). I was running really rich at idle with both my car and my wifes casue they both have 180*. I fixed them by tuning it with sniper.

I'm sorry, I didn't have a clue as to what TR6 plugs were, I'm old and run Champions in everything we own; Champion single platinum stk #3401 IIRC in the Mustang. In "googling" them I see that they are rather plain jane, conventional electrode plugs. These are great close-gapped for higher/high boost f/i applications as they can throw a big fat sparkif the coils have enough jizzto light 'em up, however for mildly modified n/a motors they offer nothing except an opportunity to change plugs more often as they'll be toast after 25k to 30k miles.
