Dies on warm start?
My car is bieng a b**** to start after its been running. When i cold start it (first crank after several hours of sitting) it starts up perfectly fine. but after its been running and i turn it off and go to start it again (can be 5 minutes, 30 minutes, an hour) it will crank, rpm's jump up to the usual 1200 or so, then it bogs down quickly to about 300 then dies making some wierd popping noises. will start fine on the next crank. just started this week. any ideas or suggestions?
i'm going to replace the spark plugs, fuel filter, and clean the iac/tb this weekend.

RE: Dies on warm start?
I'm going to have to ask first, any CEL?? What comes to mind first, that's NOT IAC or IAC related would be:
- Cam/Crank Position Sensor
- Coolant Temp Sensor
Get some codes read if possible... I suggest driving it to Autozone, or your preferred parts store that does free DTC readings, and have them come out, and hook up the Scantool, try to start it and get the codes..

RE: Dies on warm start?
Sure it would, if the CPS is at fault.. If for some reason the CPS is flaky or on it's way out, you could get a 100% clean start some times, and not run or start at all sometimes... The reason I mentioned Coolant Temp sensor, is sometimes those are intermittent as well.. I had a problem with mine, and kept thinking it was the IAC. After cleaning the IAC and making sure all of the vac lines were good, I was fed up.. A buddy came over with a Scantool and found out that it was the Coolant Temp Sensor..
That's why I mentioned, if you can get it started, drive it over to somewhere that will read codes, and then hook it up, and try starting it to see what comes up..

check the codes. I had the exact same thing with an SES light. It came up as a cam timing sensor fault. r/r sensor, didn't fix it. Alternator was bad, r/r alternator, good to go.

Older cars I'd say Vapor Lock..newer cars....?
