Default Steeda Clutch Kit..

Hey guys, I bought a steeda clutch kit about 2 months ago and installed it myself. Just recently my throw out bearing is squealing pretty bad. I was wondering if there was a proper way of adjusting the clutch cable. I'm not sure if I installed it properly so I was wondering if installing it improperly could cause the throw out bearing to squeal and go bad.

Stupid Question: Didn't think I had to but before installing a new clutch cable should it or does it need to be greased or lubricated???

Thanks in advance!
-Kris

Does the squealing stop when you step on the clutch, even lightly? It not then the TOB is likely bad, however if the noise does away then...Is there free play in your clutch pedal? Press on the pedal with your hand until you feel the resistance of the clutch spring; it should move 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" before you feel the resistance. If not then the cable it too tight and the TOB is being loaded against the spring fingers which can make a squeal; loosen the cable until you do have 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" freeplay.

the clutch cable should be adjusted with about a 1/4 to 1/2inch of slack in the cable with the firewall adjuster completly adjusted in to the firewall and the cable hooked on the farthest hook from the firewall. then turn the firewall adjuster to set the clutch to release where it feels good to you. and no the cable doesnt need to be greased or lubricated.

1/4" to 1/2" cable deflection when tugging it sideways; I know that's what you meant, but many people interpret "slack" as meaning 1/4" to 1/2" freeplay at the operating lever...

There was a poster a while back that was very confused about this and was trying to set 3/8" (half way between 1/4" and 1/2") clearance between the TOB face and the spring fingers...

Yeah, the poor guy had severe clutch drag and could barely shift, must have been about 1-1/4 to 1-1/2 feet of freeplay at the pedal...

my tob was squeeking bad I used some spray 5 lubricant and it hasn't made a sound in over a month. You just take the clutch fork cover off and lightly lubricate the tob.
