Default suspension

Well guys after pricing long tubes and listening to what you guys say about udp. I decided to start working on suspension. I was thinking of subframe connectors and ebaich springs lowering it 1 1/4 inches. also was want more meat in the back what is the widest tire I can put on the stock rim. I have 245-45-17 falcons on now and hate them they suck no traction.

As for suspension, I think you're definitely on the right track.. What kind of budget are you working with?? What kind of purpose are you intending for your car, as in, do you plan on racing it much, or do you like better handling?? Even better, do you just want it to look better??

If you lower the car, you may want to think of a few other components to better improve the steering/handling geometry. Some of these being:

- Better ball joints
- Bumpsteer kit
- Better LCAs for the front/Rear
- Adjustable CC Plates
- Better struts/Dampeners
- Strut tower bracing

I know it sounds like a lot, but you'd be amazed at how much better the car feels and reacts, when they are combined..

if you are only going with a 1 1/4 inch drop, then there is no need to spend extra money on camber plates....you wont need them.

if you want a good deal on shocks/struts, brenspeed.com has tokico blues for like 260 - 270 shipped for all four. couple them with some good springs and your ride, will ride 10 times better than it does now.

I don't know if I'd say you won't need them.. It's always nice to have the ability to adjust your caster a little, and even be able to do a quazi-alignment yourself with the exception of accurate Toe adjustments..

anything lower than 2 inches and you'll HAVE TO get camber plates....anything less than 2inches, then they arent required.

sure you can spend the extra money on some....but...are they required for a 1 1/4 inch drop? no.

Well, true, they aren't required, but like I said in my original post, things that would definitely improve, but absolutely necessary..

Just like the fact that 95% of folks who lower their cars, don't consider getting different front LCAs, but for correct suspension geometry, they're almost required.. Then again, if you enjoy replacing tires more often (regardless of alignment, it happens), and some bottoming out of the suspension, have fun...

I'm a firm believer that if you're going to do it, do it right..

Well I was thinking springs, shocks, and struts first. then subframe connectors. then mabyee control arms uper and lower or bump steer kit. in that order but in phases so I notice what each does for the car and I don't drop all the money at once. have about 1800 to spend but also going to have a shop do the work. to insure proper allignment and adjustment.

Well, with the age of your car, and some fairly basic hand tools, all of the work can be done over a good weekend and a case of beer.. Since the spring pressure can be released with a regular hydraulic or even mechanical jack, without the use of a spring compressor (fronts can be a b-tch though), that's really the only part that is tough.. You can eyeball the suspension alignment close enough to get the car safely to a shop to have it aligned... Save yourself a few hundred dollars, and get dirty..
