Default Dual-Stage Rev Limiter

Hi Guys,

I just ordered a SCT Livewire Tuner for my 04 mustang gt (5spd).
My Mods: Steeda high flow intake (CAI), Summit underdrive pulleys, MAC O/R X Pipe, Magnaflow Mangapack catback, Richmond 4.10 gears w/ Alloy 31 spline axles, and a Cobra dif.

I have to fill this thing out afterwards. It is asking:

Do you want a dual-stage rev limiter?
If Yes, please indicate launch RPM in the final Comments section.

What is this? Do I need it? If so, what is a good RPM to set it to?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!

Its a 2 step rev limiter. When you come up to the tree, you can just floor the throttle, and it'll stay at the RPM you select. It really does help the reaction time, and youwon't bein such a hurry any more when your at the staging tree. If your on drag radials i'd set it maybe at about 4500 or so, street tires, 2500. This is one of my things.. i love two step rev limiters.

Night time, perfect weather, quiet, and you smell the tires and you see a cloud of smoke behind you. You pull up to the tree.
Vroo Vroo...few quick revs.. Vroo vroovrovroovroovro VROOOOOO (slam second) VrooOO

ohh yea.. i love drag racing.

not at all. the 2-step basicaly holds your RPM at a specific spot for the launch. after that it isn't used at all.

you are correct. I posted vido last week of my car on the 2 step, I'll see if I can find it.

I have 4 different two steps. 3500, 4k, 4.k and 5k.
With MT ET Street radials the 3.5 and 4k bogged a little. 4.5k spun them just sligtly along with the 5k. Another track would have been a dead hook most likely

Slicks only used the 5k but wish i had a higher 2 step for the slicks because the best i got was 1.79 for the 60'

why can't you adjust yours higher and in 100rpm increments (sp?) with your xcal?

The tuner i used didnt give me access to change anything on the two step tunes. He emailed me separate tunes and i just have to load which two step i want to use on the xcal and then flash my car. Was clueless on what options the tuner had then and didnt realize other tuners would allow you to change that. But the regular 87,91 93 octane tunes I can change gear ratios, and several other things.
