retard/advane timing, nitrous, supercharger or turbocharger should be the only time you should run a higher octane. But then again its your car run what you want...

Run the lowest grade possible without detonation. Anything more is wasting money. This would be the best advice!!!

I have to run premium here in ohio cause it is unregulated and not really 93 octane. I also have a stock flash....and will ping on middle grade. Ohio gas sux.

Its just really starting to get annoying, the answer is clearly 87, and its not debateable. You have your answer so lets stop talking about it.

it's a legit question but it's in your owners manual........i understand that you might not have one being that you bought it used. but everyone should just search......i found this topic on the very same page.......the first page of this 4.6 forum. i don't even want to think about how many times it must have been posted before.

wait a month or so and you'll get annoyed by it too. that and gears are on here all the time......i did it myself with the gears question.

Hmmm....guess I'll have to drive to wherever 2000Si is, cause the lowest octane we have around here is 89. Evidently our gas sucks here as well - I get ping with anything under 93. And no, it isn't because somebody told me not to use under 93 that I THINK I hear ping. I have PING using 89 or 91. It's rough, because fuel is higher than a cat's back now.

Speaking of catbacks, what is the best exhaust system to go with? I'm only KIDDING...Don't yell at me, please!! [sm=devilangel.gif]

octane differs from state to state....i know in colorado 87 is considered midgrade. use what you want but know that the manufacturer recommends 87.
