alot of people with 4.10's say that your theoretical top end speed lowers with the gears, however, since the engine has to work less, you are actually capable of reaching higher speeds, because you will not run out of gear before power... i have never tested this, but many on the forum have confirmed it

To answer your question about how to check if your gears are stock or not, check the numbers. Count how many teeth are on you ring gear, then count how many are on you pinion gear. Then divide the number you get from your ring gear by the number you get from your pinion gear. If it comes out to 3.73 or 4.10 etc....You have an aftermarket.

? first if he is pulling them out, it will say what they are stamped into it, but if your not, jack up your car spin your rear tires and see how many times your driveshaft spins

Oh yeah, my bad I actually learned that recently too (with the whole spinning the drive shaft that is). Completely crossed my mind, howver there is one thing I don't agree with. If he is pulling them out they won't necessarily be stamped. I have aftermarkets and they don't show any markings on them at all. But good catch on the Driveshaft trick.

Yeah, if it spins 4 times then a tiny bit more of a 5th time(10% of a 5th time to be exact) you have 4.10's 3 turns and almost a full other turn would be 3.73 and so on.

PS. If I am wrong someone please correct me. I don't want to screw this guy up
