to answer your question, I'd say with equal mods it'll be a drivers race. I don't think the slight bump in compression is going to make it a sure win.

It probably wouldn't be a definite win If you used all stock parts, such as cams and headers. I had stage 2 cams and longtubesand made 270whp/280wtq after a tune, baseline before tune was 250 something.

I have a 2004gt. And a buddy of mine has a 98gt with pi swap and identical mods. TB/plenum, CAI, EXHAUST, LOWERED, HE HAS 3.73 GEARS AND I HAVE 3.55, BOTH EQUAL DRIVERS, I USUALLY BEAT HIM ABOUT 2 CARS ON STREET, AND OUR TIMES AT THE TRACK ARE 8.40(ME) 8.90(HIM)

No credible difference in HP that matters in a race.

Using Stock PI heads/cams you won't see a big gain...but if you use ported heads and something like my stg 2 cams, you will see a DEFINATE increase vs the same swap on a PI car.

stock 98 with a pi swap vs stock 99-04 would go to the new edge because of gearing....if the mods are equal the hp isnt enough to make a difference, but without gears your 3.08s will lose to the 3.27s in the new edge

do the pi swap, you'll be happy, it'll be a close race. technically you will have more hp, but the gearing is a prob. looks like u have it all figured out (looking at your sig)
