Default 00 GT FUEL PROBLEMS

My 2000 GT 114,000miles has started having some fuel problems, I took it to the local Ford dealership and they said it has sulphur pellets in the tank its corroded the fuel pump and blocking the collector when the fuel gets low. I've recently run into some money and I want to take care of her with a new tank, lil bigger pump, new plugs, wires, and ignition. A Mach 1 intake is in the future as well.

The car sputters when I really get on it, past 3,000rpm is out of the question, what do you guys recommend for parts as well as diagnosis. I've replaced the fuel filter twice the past 4,000 miles and its continuosly full of crap. Do I need some new lines and rails as well?

Thanks for the help!

Matt

i would just drop the tank and completely clean it out. replace the pump with a SVT Focus pump if you want a little more out of it and throw one more fuel filter on it. Definantly change those spark plugs and throw in a bottle of injector cleaner. You dont have plug wires or a distributor u saved money there.

Might also be a good time to change the O2 sensors as well.

Have you even bothered to pull your plugs and check them.

Sulfer pellets LOL thats a new one, they must have gotten some new guys at that dealership that brought some new BS with them. Make sure to check the blinker fluid and take the winter air out of the tires and put summer air in too.

Clean the MAF, change and check your plugs, have your cats checked

haha that is great. If something is in his tank its cause the fuel he has been getting is crap, or someone put something in there that shouldn't go there.

Also if you have to drop the tank just make sure your fuel lines are clear of debri, don't replace them.

Hey thanks alot guys for the responses, i'm gonna drop my tank next weekend and give it a good cleaning. I'll probably replace the plugs with stockers unless you recommend somethin else, you guys say the SVT FOCUS pump is the way to go i'll give it a try, I'll probably get a new set of injectors as well any recommendations?

One other question my tank takes fuel very slowly (barely a trickle out of the pump) I've checked both the doors going down to the tank and they seem to be working fine, could it be a breather problem?

Thanks again

No need for injectors. Unless you are just going to buy new stock 19# injectors to replace the old ones. Unless you are running any type of FI or nitrous or high compression you should be running stock spark plugs. What are you running now? I think the SVT pump is cheaper then stock so go for it.

Check your evap system.

I'm just running stock plugs now, i'll order the pump tomorrow any good sites you guys recommend for parts?

You think its the evap system thats causing the problems. If I really try pumping alot in from a can it like gurgles back out thats what made me think the breather was clogged.

Thanks again
