Default Closing my hood doesn't seem right?

I have a 04' Mustang GT and I have been in and out of the hood alot and I don't like the way it closes.

The only way it closes for me is to hold it a little over a foot high and let it SLAM shut.

Is this normal with this car? can I adjust it to close without so much force?

Mine is really similar, like I have to hold it like a foot away and just let it drop. Im not sure if you can adjust it or anything but I think that it is perfectly normal.

Great all, Thanks.

It doesn't seem to be hurting anything but, I don't like the agressive slam it makes, I'll try the WD40.

Arent our hoods fiberglass?? Cause when i got in a wreck the hood did not "bend" it "cracked" and had sharp strands of what looked to be fiberglass

Someone here said that they are not exactly fiberglass but rather some sort of heat mold variation. Its a mold becasue fiberglass would have a rough and smooth side not two smooth sides.
