RE: HOW MUCH HP CAN THE STOCK 4.6 HOLD.
The voice of experience? We all get addicted to boost. It seems like the trouble begins when we go from 6-8 lbs to 10-12. I've been thinking of changing out my pulley for more but after reading that other thread I'm glad I talked myself out of it. My car is a daily driver, I really don't want it down for an engine rebuild. (At least not yet.)

Your right, the tune, the supporting modsand the condition ofthe motor make all the difference. Since I havetorn upthree motors in the past I tend to be a bit conservativewith a daily driver. Two of those times I had to pay people (car pool) to get me to work while I saved enough money to buy ajunk yardmotor. The third time I was able to borrow the money. I still remember walking for four months and getting rides with friends to the grocery store until I could get enough money to get the car running. Luckily I didn't have kids at the time. And, even though my kids are grown, I frankly don't want to do that again. Only the young can afford to be that damn foolish.
Actually I meant that post as kind of a joke. PCS is one of thepeople on the other thread that said they blew up their motor. That's why I asked him if he was speaking with the voice of experience. He said it took a year to get his car back together.

RE: HOW MUCH HP CAN THE STOCK 4.6 HOLD.
i had all the supporting mods
42lbs injectors, big maf, ford gt pump, 8psi,good tune, and i/c and my engine had 35k miles on it, so it was still in good shape when it decided blow. i agree with eagle on being conservative with daily driver. especially when its your main transportation. even though my stang is not a daily driver and i have 2 other vehicials to drive, i still have a conservative tune even with a built engine. id rather lose a race and be able to race another day than to win it and break my car in the process.

you could just put forged internal in your block, thats what aftermarket manufacturers do, take an original block, prep and machine it. then stuff forged internals.
