I took my calipers off earlier today and lost some brake fluid when i disconected the cable. now everything is back together and when i am driving and go to brake my pedal goes down all the way to the floor. i have to pump the breaks to come to a hard stop. do I have air in my beak lines? what can i do to fix? thanks

yes you have air in the lines, you need to bleed the brakes. get a friend and have him pump the pedal up and hold pressurre on it, then crack open the bleeder and let the fluid come out, close the bleeder and have him pump it up again and repeat 3 to 4 times at each caliper. check after each caliper to make sure that the master cylinder doesnt run dry. and make sure that when he pumps the pedal that the cap on the master is in place. this should take care of it

Is it critical that the cap is on the master when bleeding using this method???

Thanks

if you dont have the cap on it will sometimes shoot brake fluid out of the resevoir while you are pumping the pedal, not good if you want to keep your underhood clean

why did you remove the line in the first place?

next time just move the caliper out of the way and tie it up with something strong.
