Default Busted AC in 100+ degree heat!

Hey guys,

So I know that my AC needs more than just a charge. When I turn it on it doesn't blow cold and my RPMs jump up and down in a constant rhythm. I called Ford and they said they would tell me what the problem was for $125 bucks. Dealership, go figure. Any ideas guys? I would appreciate any help.

Start the car, pop the hood, turn the A/C on MAX. Look at your compressor to see if its running, its gonna be on the right side of the motor at the bottom.

My guess is that it just needs a charge, the RPM's jumping is due to your compressor kicking on and off because it needs to be charged. You can charge it yourself, its real easy, they sell a kit at your local auto parts store for pretty cheap.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure if I can get an AC recharge kit locally. I'm not sure where you are located but in California not many places recharge your AC anymore because shops need to have some sort of license to carry it now. I may be able to order online though.

Wow, I wasnt aware of that. The last time I checked it was the standard R-134A that was used to recharge A/C's. But I'm in Ohio and I know you guys have some pretty stiff emmision laws and stuff out there so it wouldnt really suprise me.

Good luck though man.
