3-valve

4.6L 3-valve SOHC V8 installed in a 2006 Ford Mustang GTThe 3-valve SOHC 4.6L with variable camshaft timing (VCT) first appeared in the redesigned 2005 Ford Mustang.
The engines are equipped with an electronic Charge Motion Control Valve (CMCV) system that provides increased charge motion at low engine speeds for improved emissions and low-rpm torque. Cylinder block material varies between aluminum used in the 2005+ Mustang GT and cast iron used in the 2006+ Ford Explorer and the 2007+ Ford Explorer Sport Trac (see below), though the same aluminum heads are used in all applications.
The 3-valve SOHC 4.6L engine was on the Ward's 10 Best Engines list for 2005–2008.
Vehicles equipped with the 4.6 L 24-valve SOHC include the following:
[ul][*]2005–present Ford Mustang, 4.6L, 300hp (224kW) and 320ft·lbf (434N·m)[*]2006–present Ford Explorer, 4.6L, 292hp (218kW) and 300ft·lbf (407N·m)[*]2007–present Ford Explorer Sport Trac, 4.6L, 292hp (218kW) and 300ft·lbf (407N·m)[*]2009 Ford F-Series, 4.6L, 292horsepower (218kW) and 320lb·ft (434N·m) [/ul]
That came from Wikipedia. As far as I can tell those are the only 3 valve heads that they made.

LOL no they have 2v SOHC heads. 05+ Mustangs have the 4.6 3v, and Cobras/Mach 1's have a DOHC 4.6 4v.
