Chrome looks great no doubt...(but it rust if not maintained) and were the headers are on our cars kinda hard to maintain. On the plus side they are cheaper than Ceramic Headers. Ceramic is: A non-metallic material able to withstand high temperature without degradation. A hard, dense material derived from mixing metal oxides and firing in a high temperature furnace. Thus this means it is a coating applied to headers to prevent rust.... About the headers I have no experience with them YET on the 4.6. My friend has BBK L.T and says he is really happy with them. Maybe someone else with more experience will clear that area up for you. Hope I helped some...=-)

I have MAC LT's, Prochamber midpipe and Flowmaster 40's and I'm really happy with the setup. If you call MAC I think they will give you a discount if you tell them you are a Mustang Forums member.

While the ceramic coating does prevent rust, it's main benefit is to insulate the header so as to keep the exhaust gasses hotter (hotter fluids can flow faster). This insulative quality also reduces underhood temperatures.

The very best headers would be ceramic coated stainless steel, as stainless is far less thermally conductive then mild steel in the first place...

thats a hell of a deal. it would be stupid not to take it. just don't be surprised what you pay to have them installed or if you're installing them yourself, have fun. just takes time.

Plus chrome headers will blue over time with hot engine tempuratures. You could always get chrome ones, since they are cheaper, and have them wrapped in header tape before you install. My friend did it on his 05 GTO and they turned out really nice. Just be sure to pour water over the freshly wrapped headers and then fire it up for a few minutes. Helps make the wrap shrink around 'em.

Don't use header tape on a DD, two thingscan happen:[ul][*]Under extended high speed driving the tapecan insulate so well that the header may actually burn through. I've seen this often when the header has a sharp 90° or better bend that's very close the the exhaust port, the "outside" of the bend will burn and blow through;[*]The tape will trap moisture when driving in the rain and potentially/likely cause the header to rust out prematurely;[/ul]
This is one of those "don't ask me how I know" things. Coated and SS headers are more resistant to these problems, however there really isn't any need to wrap coated or SS headers.
