here's a pic of mine. off of a Mach1. Its goes across like you want to do. But im just wondering how thick the tubing is on the one you have. I'm just thinking it may have thinner tubing since it was made with the extra support.

did you feel any difference after you put it on?

pat i was thinking about a STB also from blue oval which is like $70. but i figured that when i get back to nc ill have harris or custom weld in some MM subframes. i think it would make a more noticable difference. But since you got yours for free might as well just fab it up so it works. if u do cut it make sure you use the 5/16" bolts and not the 1/4" ones.
