Whenever I get around to finally buying my 4.10's will I need to by a tuner for my speedometer or is that something I can just have my mechanic take care of when he installs em for me?

Eh, MAYBE if he wants to run 93 octane.

Get a Dallas Speedcal for $100.

he won't get 15-20 out of a tuner. when i got my gears done, the guy there doing it straight up told me i'd get MAYBE 6RWHP, but i'd have to run 91+ octane gas from now on. guy told me to just get the speed cal and save a few bucks.

I've been fillin up with regular since I got my car b/c that's what the dude who sold it to me said.

So it's not really worth it to get a tuner and run 93 octaine after getting gears?

for now? no. it's not worth paying an extra $5 at the pump just for an extra 6RWHP. that adds up. get a tune when you get more mods. get some nitrous then get it tuned.

What does my stock GT have in terms of RWHP? I know it's got 260 at the crank but how much makes it to the ground?

probably about 230-235RWHP. mine dyno'd at 240RWHP with catback, midpipe & gears.

It would be more worth it if you had an automatic. I would suggest getting a tuner anyway though, because you can find used Diablo Predators in the $225 range (which admittedly is $125 more than a DM speedcal) that can do what the speedcal does plus read trouble codes plus allow you tuning options with both the factory tune and the 93 octane tune.
