I need to correct my speedo and get a more performance oriented tune. I've never used a tuner before, but I was endowed with common sense. What should I get, the no brainwork chip (I dont plan on upgrading any further, the supercharger is out for this car), or a tuner? The tuner idea would be great but I dont particularly like the fact that it can only be used on one computer. Any suggestions?

chip is probably theway to goif you're done modifying the car. tuner is for the person who likes to tweak with things constantly. common sense is good, but it doesn't mean you can't make a mistake. i don't know if there's built in protection from damaging the motor but you could get into trouble with a bad tune.

I would go to a place that has a dyno and have them burn you one..you will be alot happier and will see more than 20 hp and you'll have you a new poster to put in the family room with the graghs that are printed*L*

20 hp for $320 ain't bad at all. you'll probably have 310-320 horses at the flywheel - Mach 1 territory - except that your's is faster. nice.

Joe, I say chip...a tuner basically just asks certain questions and uploads a preset program to your computer...with a chip you tell them exactly what mods you have and then it will be completely customized and not just a generic program

I just got in from work, sorry about the late post Mdvaldosta. Monday morning I am going to get a base dyno run before I start putting my mods on. Now that the weather is starting to get cold now, my dad, & I are both getting a little antsie to start putting my modifications on the car. After all my stuff is on I am going to got back, & have a couple more pulls on the dyno, and get a custom chip. the place I am going actually deals w/Ford Chip, so it'll be mailed to me, but FordChip will have my dyno charts, as well as my list of modifications, so they can give me a REAL CUSTOM chip, not just some

"yea,...I have this on my car, & that on my car, etc"

"...OKAY...We'll need your CC # now, and expect 3 ta 5dys for delivery" type of custom chip. I understand that 4hrs is a LONG WAY AWAY, but see about finding someone who knows of anybody w/one of those little non-internet address having places that could still run you on their dyno, so you'd still have something to go on. My drive is going to be a little over an hr.

Too late, its ordered. we'll find out by the end of next week how it performs. They asked for the 4 digit code on my computer, make of car, modifications, and any special requests.

You'll still be satisfied w/the chip, I was just saying that u'd be happier with a custom chip that had dyno information to go by as well. Congrats though.
