Insall help on driveshaft and T/B+plenum
Ihave some questions i was hoping someone could clear up for me, as i have recieved conflicting reports. i'm installing a FRPP alum driveshaft and Accufab 75mm throttle body and plenum(bothfrom american muscle)this weekend. I dont have any kind of presurized tools/ impact wrenches. at first looking through how-to's, most said an imact wrench was required for the T/B insatll because of the locktite on some bolts(or screws). Then when i called dallas mustang to set-up an install they said you just need basic wrenches and screwdrivers for the T/B and plenum. However, they did say i would need some kind of speciality tool for the D.S.(which from the how-to's ive read regarding the driveshaft-all said iWOULDN'T need any kind of presurized/impact anything). So before i dive into anything i'm not going to be able to finish...i was hoping someone could clear this up for me. thanks

for the bolts that have loctite on them just use a socket wrench with a bar on the end for leverage.
i used a special swivel socket for the driveshaft. i used an impact wrench but its not necessary.

that was what i was initially thinking, before i read all the how-to's. so then i shouldnt have any problem doing them both?

Ur good with basic hand tools. The DS is fairly easy to change out... the safest way to do it is to back your car onto some ramps b/c u want the rear to be stable while u are cranking on it. IDK what size the bolts are, its been a few years since I had a DS out, but figure out what size you will need in both sockets and wrenches. Break the bolts loose using a box-end wrench and a hammer, you dont wanna strip the heads off the bolts trying to pry on them with a socket and ratchet. Once they are broke free, then u can ratchet them off. You will more than likely have to drop the mid exhaust off (your x/h pipe) in order to get the shaft out, so do this before unbolting the shaft from the rear, but once the shaft is unbolted from the rear, simply slide the shaft backwards to pull the yoke out of the tailshaft of the trans. If the rear is elevated, u shouldnt have to worry about losing any fluid out of the trans, but dont be alarmed if you get a little "drip-drip". Also, IMO it would be a good idea to get a new tailshaft seal to replace while u have the DS out, as these are famous for going bad and causing a slow leak out of the tailshaft. Good luck and I hope this helped!

If you have a battery powered drill/screwdriver you can use it quite effectively as a sort of impact wrench for small machine screws. Insert the proper bit,put the drill in reverse, and set the torque to a failrly high setting. This works so well with my 18V MIlwaukee that I use it all the time when mucking about with factory tightend TPS, IAC, and other machine screws.

For the driveshaft bolts, its a size 12 but you need a 12 with the 12 rivets inside as well, not just the normal 6. They can be a little tricky but it doesn't take too long. From jacking up to removing midpipe, replacing driveshaft and installing midpipe and setting on ground, took me about an hour.
