off road midpipe...no MIL???
i have had my new exhaust, which includes a pypes off road xpipe of terrible quality and fitment(i told pypes i would spread the word about their product), and 2.5'x12' bullet race mufflers dumped right before the axle. i assumed that the check engine light would come on after a couple cycle diagnostic cycles. well, it's been two weeks now, i drive the car 14 miles everyday to work, and still no MIL. is this normal?

RE: off road midpipe...no MIL???
I installed a Pypes O/R x and had trouble fitting it as well. I have a tuner but decided to not turn off the rear O2s just to see how long it took for the check engine light to come on. Well 250 miles later, about a week of driving, it still hadnt come on, so i just went ahead and changed the tune. I was kinda surprised the light hadnt come on.

There are a number of conditions required before the catalyst efficiency monitoring fails, it can take 300 miles or more depending on how and where you drive:
[*]Minimum 330 seconds since start-up at 70° F (21°C)[*]Engine coolant temperature is between 170° F (76.6°C) and 230°F (110°C)[*]Intake air temperature is between 20°F (-6°C) and 180°F (82°C)[*]Time since entering close loop is 30 seconds[*]Inferred Rear HO2S sensor temperature of 900° F (482° C)[*]EGR is between 1 and 12%[*]Part throttle, maximum rate of change 0.2 volts/0.050 sec[*]Vehicle speed is between 5 and 70 mph (8 and 112 km/h)[*]Fuel level greater than 15%[*]First Air Flow Cell
[*]Engine RPM 1,000 to 1,300 rpm.[*]Engine load 15 to 35%.[*]Inferred catalyst temp. 850° F (454° C) to 1,200° F (649° C).[*]Number of front O2 switches: 50. [/ul][*]Second Air Flow Cell
[*]Engine RPM 1,200 to 1,500 rpm.[*]Engine load 20 to 35%.[*]Inferred catalyst temp. 900° F (482° C) to 1,250° F (677° C).[*]Number of front O2 switches: 70. [/ul][*]Third Air Flow Cell
[*]Engine RPM 1,300 to 1,600 rpm.[*]Engine load 20 to 40%.[*]Inferred catalyst temp. 950° F (510° C) to 1,300° F (704° C).[*]Number of front O2 switches: 30. [/ul][/ul]

RE: off road midpipe...no MIL???
i have driven 600 miles this weekend, mixed driving. i also thought that my SES light my be out, but it is functional at start up. i was planning on getting a tuner soon, but if the SES light stays off, i think i'll wait a few more weeks until i get the gears.

well thats funny. i had never done exhaust work before and installed shorty headers and my pypes o/rx along with the violator catback system on my car and had no trouble at all lol.

I HAVE A QUESTION. I GOT THE MAGNAFLOW CATBACK WITH THE MAGNAFLOW TRU X OFF ROAD MID PIPE WITH THE O2 SENSOR HARNESS AND MY CHECK ENGINE LIGHT DIDNT COME ON TODAY BUT WHEN I STARTED IT TONIGHT IT DID COME ON. DOES ANYONE KNOW WHATS UP WITH THAT. I THOUGHT THE O2 SENSOR SHOULD MAKE THE CHECK ENGINE LIGHT NOT COME ON.
