Default Traction-Lok Clutch Pack Rebuild

Has anyone changed their Clutch Pack in the rear differential? Mine is making noise when I turn to the right so I know it needs replaced. I'm just wondering how tricky it is to do. Do you know of any special tools I may need?

Default RE: Traction-Lok Clutch Pack Rebuild

Just a thought. My F150 w/78K miles was making the same type of noise, and friends (online and local) recommended that put in more friction modifier. It didn't work, so I changed the oil and installed more friction modifier. Additionally, one friend recommended that I crank the stearing and do 20 or so circles, then reverse the direction and do another 20 or so. I lost count but did go in circles for a while. The noise is gone without a rebuild. I won't know for sure that it is all working until I get back into some snow, that could beyears.

I will also tell you that through my online research, the majority of people said that the GM friction modifier was the best. That is what I used. But obviously the Ford stuff should work just fine.

Cheaper then a rebuild.

Good luck
