Default Removing spare tire for weight - good idea?

I'm all about weight saving and I've heard that many people remove the spare tire at the back to save a lot of weight. I was gonna do this but I was thinking that all that weight might be helping me push down on the tires for better traction...

I bought a can of fix-a-flat and of course I have progressive road-side assistance so I may never really even need it. Will it help with preformance to go without it?

Thanks,
Brandon

I keep mine out and just put it back in when I go on long trips in it.

Ok cool. I just took it own, Jesus it was heavier than I thought. I feel bad for what my car had to go through LOL.

Anyway, is it ok lose the air pressure from the tire before I put it to storage? And what do you recommend I can do to hold up the trunk floor to prevent it from sinking in?

Thanks

Lol...good idea

Well I actually have one or two things I usually have in my trunk so I really wanna keep it useable... I can live with the trunk liner's weight just not the spare tire lol

Oh by the way are you sure this doesn't cause me to lose traction?

Oh I also found a dead bee under the spare tire...probably a Texan bee as I had ordered the car from Texas to get shipped to here in LA lol

If you're worried about having enough downforce on the rear end relocate your battery to the trunk and put it on the passenger side so that when you are sitting in the car it somewhat balances out the weight!

Yeah I was thinking about that mod but I don't think it's necessary for me right now. I am happy with just removing the spare tire as long as I still get good traction. I'll give my car a test drive tomorrow and see how different it feels.. probably won't be anything
