Default Power loss

I have 4 k sitting in bank account. It's not for this car it's for a real car 69 red convert. this one is a daily driver until that one is finished and then this on gets a fresh crate motor, transmission, springs rims tires, fix sqeaks, paint job, blah blah blah till its new againand becomes daily driver, again. The reason I (ME, Myself) figured the computer had a hand in slow neutral reving was because A. it pulls through first gear and lights the tires up faster than it revs out of gear B. it revs faster on a cold morning right after start-up (while the engine is dumping more fuel and less air)than after 15 minutes of rolling around. Maybe it needs an injector cleaning, maybe some aftermarket injectors arefurther in-line. I'm going to check the compression, but judging by the power it makes while it's not randomly missing, i wouldguess the compression is pretty good. Maybe it is a sticking valve and a compression test wont even tell me. The damn thing maybe well past time for overhaul. Who knows.

So, for the question i had but didnt ask. Has anyone ever had any problems with fords factory coils @ 100k miles or any time before or close to that? Are there significant performance gains from aftermarket igntion coils? After all, this is the first year these coils have been used.

i have a ranger with 182k miles, never had problems with the coils which i think are similar to the ones on your car. however, i did have problems similar to you have, tried a hunch with a new fuel filter and the truck ran just fine after. try what md said above, fuel filter, plugs and wires. if that doesn't work take it in and have an engine diagnostic run. hope you get lucky.

they prolly use the same method atleast. Fuel filter has been replaced. Showed no improvement there. I still need to do plugs but im gonna go with a motorsport plug or somthing along those lines, even though those coppercore champions are bad **** plugs regardless of price. The wires are new as of 02' motorsport 9mm wires.I'm gonna try disconnectiong amp and see if the problem goes away.

this is atwin cam16 valve 4.6 liter v-8 with two independent ignition coils. It has sparkplug wires running from the coils in fronteach cylinderhead to the spark plug down inside the head. It is a different setup from the 4 cam 32 valve 99 and up motors and cobra motors. This setup is the reason why many people want to swap in a cobra head and intake setup to thier 96 4.6L mustang. I dont know if the 97 and 98 are the same as 96... i know they have a better intake though.

It may sound dumb but my car used to do the same thing when the cat was clogged. Its worth trying.
