a guy at my work has a gsxr 600 stock and wants to race mt. I have the mods listed below with a perf tune and longtubes also. i am running about 12.9 on a bad day and with drags i am at about 12.7. he wants to race me and bet 300. i have beaten 600s before but never raced a newer one yet. what do you think should i take him. also this is his first motorcycle and i know i can get him off the line. but it is third that i am worried about.

you should be worried, my best advice is pray he cant drive. any gsxr 600 2001 and up should be able to pull off a 10 second pass fairly easy.

Even with a 600 he should be able to out run you in a quarter. You say you have beaten 600's before, but there must have been something wrong. Plus at m local track, bikes cant race cars.

+1^^ I don't think you have much of a chance unless he can't drive at all. Maybe race for a 12 pack or something

well i raced a fairly new kawasaki ninja 636 like a 2003 and i took him pretty good. i know that the 1000 are 10 second bikes but i dont think that a 600 can even get close to 10s without a LOT of upgrades. i know a little about bikes but not all the top endnew ones. and the 1000 are pulling 10s with pro drivers. a 750 is maybe like an 11.5

unless your blown you have no chance in winning. the power to weight ratio already got you. the newer 600's have over 100whp not tuned or any mods. and only being 430lbs wet give or take 10lbs you have no chance. sorry

haha no no no a newer kawasaki zx6r is rated at a 10.9 i believe and the zx10r is rated at 10.2. the only newer 750s are gsxrs which are rated in the 10s, hell my 2000 kawasaki zx7r was rated at an 11.0 and i have read of people making 10.9 passes on them. o and the newer 1000s are pullin 9s with good riders. just to show you how far out of your league you are, ricky gadson made a 8.9 pass on the new zx14 with a strap and a muzzy pipe.

if you can honestly tell me that your 12.7-12.9 can be lowered with nos even close to 11-11.5 secs then maybe if he mis-shifts bad. but if he can ride, its probably not going to happen. you should tell him to do a run and watch/listen how he shifts...that should tell you how good he is

Dude, it's gonna take a miracle for you to get close. LS1's don't even stand a chance to newer 600's, let alone 1000's. I'd bet my entire years earnings he'd kill ya. They're high 10 low 11 bikes with decent riders.
