Fair asking price for a 1996 Mystic Cobra
Im not sure if im posting this in the right place. Im just looking for a forum that has enough traffic to get some responses. I have a gentleman that is interested in buying my car. He wont make an offer and he is having me throw out the first figure. Its a 96 cobra mystic with 71k miles. The body is straight, no rust and 99% of the paint is mirror like clear. The car has some fad on the front bumper and on the passenger side pillar going over the window. The interior looks unsat in except for the driver seat that has a couple minor tears from the previous owner. It runs perfect. I know excellent on KBB is like 7600. Is that the figure to look at on a mystic or should I be asking more for this because of the special paint. I still have the window sticker and service documentation.

As far as I know, the mystic paint can be a gift and a curse. The rarity of it makes it special, but it is also more expensive to repaint. Why not start the negotiating somewhere close to the KBB since you 're unsure of a price.

Ok my words of advice are to ask more for the car than you are willing to take. So if you want to sell it 7,600 list it for 8,900-9,200. People never want to pay sticker for a car and will always, always try to negotiate, just because it makes them feel like they are getting a better deal. So if you list it at 9,000 someone may be willing to pay 8,100 for it. but if you list it at 7,600 people will want to talk you down to 6,900 or so. Im a business major and the worst thing you can do is to list your car for $$$$firm. People that list firm prices are normally the last people to sell there cars just because people want to get what they see in there mind as a better deal. As for finding a price that you want to sell it at do some shopping of your own on the internet and see what price similar cobras are selling at. I would say that you can probably get more than 7,600 for it KBB always seems to estimate a little on the low side. But like I said a good thing to do is to list it for a higher price, and negotiable, that way you can get some hits on it and see what the people are willing to pay for it.
