99+ to 96 PI head swap

I got PI cams to match my heads. The guys sent the springs also. Yes I will get the springs isntalled also when I do the full install. Can someone help me to understand besides the horsepower gain from cams what else they actually do? Like I know gears don't add horsepower but the rpm curve is more rapid and better. Thecams are the brain of your engine. They control the durationeach valve is opened and closed.That's whythere's N/A,blower, and NOS cams. A different brain forwhichever setup youchoose to run.
