They are almost the same motor so mods will net you the same gain. The Mach 1 has a broader torque curve. It uses, I think, the navigator intake cam.

RE: opinions on car upgrade?
thats a tough one.... basically you have to consider this:
mach- cool *** gauges , seats, and shaker hood but more expensive
cobra-couple more ponies, its a cobra, and cheaper
after thinking about it, and considering the irs, if money doesent matter that much I would prob go with the mach but im sure you could find a fairly low mileage cobra for significantly less than a mach and have more money for mods

I don't have a cage in my car and depending on on the type of racing and the track you may or may not need a roll cage. For Time Trial you usually dont need a cage.

Get whichever you can afford and like visually. Both are similiar except for the IRS in the rear. You can mod a SRA to handle and you can mod an IRS to drag.
I am bias but I like the Mach.
IMO... 03-04 Cobra > 03-04 Mach > 99/01 Cobra
opinion though.

You should just keep your gt and mod it some more. Your not going to notice a tremendous difference in your car vs mach1. You already have gears/tune/cai/exhaust/springs/shifter. I am willing to bet your car would put up a good race,if not win. Now if you are looking for a better platform to build from then by all means get the mach!

I'm just about in the exact same boat youre in. I've thought lately about upgrading to a Mach, but like the guy above me said, you have a good list of mods going. While the same mods would net a few more ponies on the 4v, you would be starting all over. Me personally, I have a few more mods than you do, and I'm thinking of just staying with the GT and building it more.
You considered the price difference between the Mach and Cobra, now think about the money youd be saving by keeping the GT...I mean...it is slightly cheaper than either of the 2. Take the money that you would be using toward the higher car payment and build the GT a little more.

The 4v is completely different. I have an o/r midpipe and catback. I still have the paper air filter and silencer and I trapped a 109. A 2v won't put down that power unless you go further than bolt ons. You also are not just paying for the power. You get the interior and other parts also.
