4.6 to 5.4 swap

4.6 to 5.4 swap
I have a 1996 Mustang GT 5 speed and I plan on doing the 5.4 swap. I read a lot of information about this swap and found out that it will not be as hard as it seems. The 4.6 is already apart, but still in the car and I think the swap would be easier to do.
I have a couple questions for anybody with knowledge or expirience with this...
What would be the best vehicle to get the 5.4 out of?
Any idea of where I could get the engine in Pennsylvania?
Will it be harder if I don'tinstall the tubular k member?
Any other information I may need before starting this project will be greatly appreciated. I may take pictures and show how to do the swap like many others have done. I plan on this being a project that will take less than one month to complete... I want to drive it to school when I'm done

Yes they have an adapter plate so you could use the intake manifold from the 4.6 but id highly recommend shelling out the 200 bucks to get the PI intake manifold, from a 2002-2004 (with aluminum crossover). Dont use your old one. I think you can find the adapter plate on either american muscle or blueovalindustries.
And id recommend taking the 5.4 out of a navigator, thats what everone else has been saying when they say 5.4 swap.

The navigator is a 4v and you're PI intake with or with out the adapter plates won't bolt up. If you are going to do a 2v getting it out of an F series truck or an E series Van.
I also wouldn't waste your time with a stock PI intake personally. I would either look at something custom or use the plates with a nicer after market intake.
Unless you're planning on doing something with this 5.4 (cams, FI, ect) I wouldn't expect this thing to be a rocket ship out of the box either. The biggest difference will be your torque curve.
I did the swap with a tubular K member but I'm not sure it's necessary, I would definitely recommend it though.

RE: 4.6 to 5.4 swap
When I searched around for this swap, it seemed that the 4v would be more of a problem trying to install. I would rather keep my computer and just use a chip for the tune. And about the intake.. I think for now I'll just mill an adaptor for my PI intake (I'm very short on cash).
Does anybody know if a 3v would be just as easy to install as the 2v and still not change computers?
Thanks for all the advice.
