Default What kind of gains from LT's?

My friend has a '99 GT, stock except for a cai and 3.73 gears.
He just got a pair of pacesetter LT's for it.
What kind of rwhp gains do you guy's think he will see?

I'll agree with 10-15, and maybe 2-3 more cause he will need a new midpipe and no doubt he will put an aftermarket one on.

Before and after dynos have shown 7-20 rwhp gain with LTs, mid-pipe and tune. Having very few other supporting mods I would think he would be at the lower end of that scale. Maybe 7-10.

Peak horsepower is not the only reason for long-tubes though. They tend toincrease mid-range torque.

I have a tad bit I want to throw in about L.T....I took the heads and intake off my friends 4.6 last night to replace valve springs. While I had the heads off I was amazed at how freakin tiny the exhaust manifolds are on our cars. That is the first time I actually got to see it up close and hold the manifolds in my hand. So with that being said L.T on the 4.6 would have stating HAVE to make a HUGE difference somewhere in the power in range over the tiny manifolds. I am not going to lay dyno numbers down because I have heard EVERYTHING. All I will say is I think it will be a well worth bolt on. BTW he is going to need a new mid-pipe to bolt up to the L.T in case he doesn't know.

Unrealistic expectations lead to disappointment. It was on this forum that I read about a guy who only got 7 rwhp from LTs on a n/a motor. That normal but he was disappointed. The same with superchargers. I read a post about a guy with an automatic transmission who was running 8 psi on a supercharger and only got 320-330 rwhp. He was extremely disappointed because people were telling him he should be near 400.No way. 350-370 is the normal range for a manual transmission. Automatics are around 30 rwhp less.

Well, the 'friend' finally installed them!
Seat of the pants puts the gain at @3500 or so. Don't really notice it up top.

I have a trip planned for the dyno next month to finally tune the car.
I will post the dyno results and the track results when I finally get them.

Pre long tubes was 13.98 @ 95 MPH

I installed mac long tubes and o/r h pipe last week and noticed a huge difference. It used to quit pulling at 5700,now it pulls up to 6400,BUT I had 75mm BBK TB and C&l upper plenum,K&N air filter,Diablo 93 octane tuned with full spark advance, and have my AFR set dead on according to my ltft's, so Id say it depends on the mods before hand....
