TPS Troubles

TPS Troubles
My son and I have purchased a 97 Mustang GT. We have recently bolted on a Accufab 70mm throttle body and have since had a check engine light that has been identified as a TPS problem. We replaced the sensor with a new one and when we restarted the car it idled at 2,200 RPM. We could not get the car to respond to any throttle adjustment. The throttle also seems to hold RPM's for a time when you let off of the throttle.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Regards,
Scott and Nick

RE: TPS Troubles
Have you disconnected the battery for 5-7 minutes to clear the KAM (Keep Alive Memory)? This iswhere the PCM stores learned data like idle air trim and fuel trims, etc.If after clearing the KAM the idle is still high, low, funky, or whatever, you may beed to adjust the throttle butterfly to its base position and work it from there. It sounds as though you have already played with the throttle adjustment (bad, if you did not reset the KAM first), so you should follow this procedure. The full process, including re-establishing the base setting is:
Disconnect the battery.
[ol][*]Release the locknut and turn the idle screw counter-clockwise until there is light showing between the screw and the throttle linkage lever and the gap between them is 0.010"[*]Turn the screw clockwise 1 turn and tighten the locknut while holding the screw in place;[*]Wait until the battery has been disconnected for 5-7 minutes, then reconnect and start the car;[*]If the idle is still not correct, and too high then back the screw out slightly, and try again; repeat as necessary;[*]If the idle is not correct and too low, or the engine stalls, then turn the screw in slightly, and try again; repeat as necessary;[/ol]
If there is any binding at throttle tip-in then turn the screw in just a tiny bit to eliminate the binding.

Make sure you tighten the locknut, you may want to clear the KAM once more just to make sure things start out clean.
