Average Cost to Install Rear Ring/Pinion Gears?

Average Cost to Install Rear Ring/Pinion Gears?
Can you guys reply with how much it cost you to have rear ring and pinion gears installed? My Ford Racing 4.10’s arrived yesterday and I am getting ready to call around for quotes and want a good baseline price to keep in mind.
(Get this) I happened to be in the dealer last week pricing owner’s manuals and for the hell of it asked what they would charge to install the gears. Guy told me that it was an 11 hour job and would run me over a grand in labor. [sm=jawdrop.gif] (Yea right – check’s in the mail…)

well it cost me $500 for my gears + install on my 04 GT from a local stang shop. i think it was $200 for the gears and $300 for the install. actually, it was $600 because i got a speedcal too.

i paid 180 for gears
200 for the install<<thats what you really wanted to know
90 for the recall
90 for the bearing kit
and like 10 for the synthetic fluid
plus , the guy i had do it, wants me to bring it back in so he can change out the fluid, and remove all the material that was sure to break away during the first miles.. for free too awesome

I'll do it for a hundred bucks. It's really simple.
90 for bearings? I bought my bearing at cost (I get all Ford parts at cost) and it was 17.62.... that just shows you what kind of mark-up they use at the stealerships. But 10 for the synthetic fluid? hahha, send me about 30 pallets of that because I could make a killin up here. Mine was 14 dollars a jug, and i needed 3 jugs, and then 5 bucks for the additive for the limited slip unit.
... great mod for the price.

i paid $220 for the install. i got my 4.10's from mustang tuning for $130 awhile back when they were on sale. $90 for the master bearing rear end rebild kit and i fixed the speedo with my diablosport tuner.
