cutting stock springs good or bad? How much to cut off?

Default cutting stock springs good or bad? How much to cut off?

ihave a 2004 gt conv. ive thought about cutting my stock springs but have heard mixed stories about doing it and that it will destroy my suspension if i cut 2 much off. Also if I was to cut them how much should i cut off im lookingfor a 1.5-2 inch drop. any input would be very helpfull thank you

LIke a hair cut, you can always cut more later so be careful. One coil is what you should start with.

yes cut 1 coil off, it is ok with stock springs, just don't cut aftermarket progressive springs

thanks 4 the help gonna do it tomorrow how much will 1 coil drop the car.i was also curious how does it ride its not bouncy is it?

As far as I know the stock springs are a fixed rate so the amount of force to compress 10 coils should be the same as the amount of force required to compress 9 coils.

I don't understand why you want to cut them. Springs are cheap and well worth the money to getupgraded springs. If you're pulling them out, replace them with quality stuff.

i cut 1.5 on my rears just for the hell of it for a friend to try out....it sat just as low or lower than his H&Rs that he had in there, but IMo that was too much

id say start with half coil and start cuttng quarter coil by quater coil til you get where you want, and if all else faisl just buy new springs
