Just wondering whats the speed limiter set at on a 98 mustang gt auto. How fast can i go before the fuel cuts off?

You're getting the rev limiter and speed limiter mixed up.

Most likely you won't ever hit the speed limiter unless you have a highly modded Mustang as most stock cars aren't aerodynamic enough to pull all the way through the speedometer like you see on some videos around here.

The Rev Limiter is when the fuel cuts out, keeps you from overreving your engine causing damage to accessories and keeping valve float out of the picture.

Well, mine is set at 120...[:@] Many people on here claim their 98's are set much higher, but I don't know....all I know is that my 98 is limited to 120.....which sucks...cause it could do 140 I think...[:-]

i had a 96gt auto and went 150 i didn thtink they had fuel shut offs

devin, i've told you a bazillion times, it's because of the gears. 3,73 gears cause your rev limiter to kick in @ 120, or 4000 rpm's in 5th gear. with stock gears, 4000 rpm's in 5th gear comes @ 136 mph.

136 mph on a stock 96-98 GT.

LOL, I know, but the thing is that when I had my stock gears it did the same thing. At 120 it just cut me off with plenty of room to go. The 120 at 4000 rpm's with stock gearing sound about right from what I remember. But I'm telling you man, it would cut me off as soon as I hit 120 and still does the same thing with my new gears.[sm=dontgetit.gif]

.....hey bro...I have 98 gt.and it shuts off at 120 mph every time...so yes you do know what your talking about ..the other guy.obviously has not ran into this issue b4...but now you know there are other gt stangs.wirh the speed limited to 120.
