fuel pump removal without disconnecting fuel lines?
1996 Cobra, replacing original fuel pump. Have dropped the tank, fuel lines still connected. I have struggled for hours with various "standard" disconnect tools. I can't budge either line coupling. Yes, I understand the concept of how the fitting works, have watched YT vids showing how easy (LOL) disconnecting is. But no luck. Very frustrated.
At this point, I power washed the top of the tank to remove any loose crud, and an wondering if there is any reason I can't just leave the lines connect and remove the pump bracket hanger assembly with fuel lines intact. I could then remove the tank, and work at installing the new pump kit (BBK 255), which includes sock, hardware, tubing, etc.
Any ideas about this? Thanks.

SOLVED. Sorry, this was a stupid question. I did get both connections (3/8 inch fuel line and 1/4 inch return line) off.
Also, you need to have the tank on a work table where you see it, as getting the pump bracket back in and oriented correctly would have been impossible without being able to see the inside tank baffle through the filler neck hole. Getting the lower pump bracket and filter sock to sit inside that baffle channel properly involved corkscrewing the assembly in.

Thanks, Dr. Yes, “quick-connect/disconnect” has to be one Ford's greatest oxymorons. Seems Ford engineered them to bait-then-discourage owners actually doing useful work on their vehicles LOL. :-|
