engine rebuild/raising compression
I have a 99 gt pi motor that blew the other day, so im going to be rebuilding it and i was thinking if i were to use the pistons from the 96-98 non pi motor would that raise my compression the same as doing a pi swap on a non pi motor? Also how much if any would I gain from boring the motor .20 to .30 over?

RE: engine rebuild/raising compression
yes it would... your compression would raise significantly almost a full point

RE: engine rebuild/raising compression
any idea to what it would go up to 10:5:1 or what? Also any one have any idea about boring the cylinder out say .20 or .30 over? and how much of a bump in power i would get on a fairly stock motor? "catback and intake"?

RE: engine rebuild/raising compression
When my 2000's motor decided that...well it just didnt like being in my car anymore...
I rebuilt a 97 GT non pi block with stage 2 heads and a baby cam (comp 262 XE) i put down 290hp and 315Tq I only have an x pipe and a cat back with intake and TB and plenum so if you were to use longtubes... your gains So basically your gains should be in the range of mine as long as you use a ported heads and cams... |
RE: engine rebuild/raising compression
compression is around 10.3-10.6 depending upon which components you choose

RE: engine rebuild/raising compression
any other thoughts?
