Need new clutch..
I blew my clutch at the track today on my first run. I think it was during the burn out. It was a king cobra and was about 15k miles old. What do you guys suggest suggest for a new one? I was thinking Spec Stage 1. But I want suggestions.
Also my friend said it could be the throw out bearing but Im pretty sure its the clutch. What is a throw out bearing? Not sure. The car spudders when ever I start up in a gear. Its like Im learning how to drive a manual its shaking so much. Anyways, Im pissed.

RE: Need new clutch..
Not surprised. The KC clutch wasnt really meant as anything more than a slightly better than OEM replacement.
The throwout bearing presses against the pressure plate fingers when you depress the clutch pedal. If it is in fact bad, it would not evenly press down all the fingers and when release it may cause the jittery symptoms that you are experiencing. Either way, to get to the clutch/TOB you need to do the same things so I would replace both. Since it is either going to be a time consuming/expensive process, I would take the time to pick a good clutch to do once. In your case I would do a Spec 2 or 2+. They have the flexibility to be a good DD clutch and in the event you want to make more power, they will definately hold up to a sticky tire and a poweradder.

I see. Yeah I guess its a good idea to go ahead and replace the clutch either way. I called up my brother and he thought it had a high performance clutch in it by the name of cobra something. I was just like I always thought those were just the stock replacement....I didnt realize they were high performance. He was like no no the guy who installed it said it would probably last the lifetime of the car.
Yep. Barely 15k miles on it. Thanks for the advice man.

Youre fine. I was really beating on my car when it blew. I think Im going to just park it for a little and buy some mods then have them all installed at the same time. I have another car I can drive around.
