Default ptv, starter jam, tranny???

I'm putting the timing chains on my car and so far, 3 tries, I can't get the crank to turn a full revolution yet... I tried the crank at TDC, safe mode, and 9 o'clock keyway. Each one lets me get 90% crank turn then locks up.

It's a stock 96 2v.

Any ideas of what to try?

I read his tutorial (great job, looked awsome), but I did all that and still had contact. Maybe I'm missing something, but I'm going to take the cams out and see if I can turn the crank over.

Anyone else have ideas?

how did you mark the chains. When you lay the chain down both marks should be at each end. Both of them being equaly apart. like this in the pic sorry its small.

I used the darker colored links on each end.

Are the cams on the right sides (if you took them out)?

Uhh.. I found my problem. I took the heads off and the first thing I see is an exhaust valve sitting on top of my piston. The good news is that there is only one valve broken, the bad news is I'm sure the others are all bent.
Just another mission... Oh well.
