Steeda U/D pulleys vs piggyback ones?

Ok, i have 3 friends who suggest getting U/D pulleys as my next mod. One says only go with steeda cause they dont use the piggyback design. And the other 2 say it makes no difference.

Normally id only go with the best one, but a guy i know is selling a set of the piggyback ones for 75 bucks. Id like to buy them.

Ideas? opinions?

Steeda... ftw. PB pulleys will give your front accessories a lot of vibration due to the fact that u are reusing you stock dampner with redisigned pulleys. Steeda includes an all new, one piece balanced crank pulley/dampener with their kit, which is why it so much more expensive, but you wont get any vibrations with it.

hmm sooo vibrations that may cause the crank to be unbalanced? :|

STEEDA actually teamed with FORD to design their UDP's so all the issues and problems associated with the piggy backs were no more.

And yes vibrations due to an imbalance not good on any lower end.

Spend the extra money on the steedas you will be glad.Or buy the piggy abcks cheap and wheel and deal them to another friend with a much needed or wanted part.

****, lol i need mods... But bolt ons dont do **** on our cars.

3 other options are:
Nitrous (cheap but risky and id rather not do it)
Supercharger (expensive but not as risky as nitrous)
302 stroker (lets me stay N/A, is the safest, but is the most expensive and involved)

Why get piggyback pulleys in the first place. To have a harmonic balancer using piggybacks, you have to bolt your old stock balancer to the new part.(you do need a harmonic balancer)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harmonic_balancer

Get the Steeda UDP's or I think March makes a harmonic balancer set now.

Lol yes i know i need a harmonic balancer, i never had any intentions of not using one.

So it looks like ill be passing on these pulleys. :\

Look around on the forum for a used set of the Steeda's. I got mine for a great price, you could too.

GStam66 08-15-2008 02:00 PM

Did you notice a decent difference after installing the pulleys?

SINISTER 08-15-2008 02:30 PM

Nothing too noticeable. Seemed to rev up a bit quicker, but it could have just been in my head. I don't think any of the pulleys would be worth it unless you get them for a great price and or have nothing else left to buy and still want to mod.
